ESBC Championship Show
2nd August 2025

I would like to thank the officers and committee of the English ST Bernard club for inviting me to judge the championship show 2025.

I would also like to thank the exhibitors for the entries they gave me without them there wouldn’t be such a show.

The atmosphere and friendliness where overwhelming and the committee did a fantastic job creating such a wonderful afternoon tea which was thoroughly enjoyed by myself and everyone.

 

Dogs

Class 1 baby puppy dog or bitch (under 6 months)

1. B Dowden - Svanasjons Yaroow field blossom @ lunorvi.  A lovely smooth baby at just 16 weeks old, good head nice chest and  nice reach of neck. This little puppy held a good top line and moved well for one so young will watch for the future.

2. D Jones - Kenbloom Rebel. Another nice baby ay 16 weeks, good bone nice dark eyes with a good bend of stifle this puppy moved well and is another to be watched.

3. Mrs H Pew – Alchazandis Pierrette. A slightly older puppy at 5 and a half months and one that needs more time to settle in the ring.

Class 2 Minor puppy – 0 entries

Class 3 Puppy dog

1. P Muggleton – Bernmont Carlos. A 8 month old boy who is tall for his age, fabulous head good clean dark eyes. He had a good bend of stifle would like him to have stronger movement as he was a bit excited today.

2. Mr & Mrs Milward – Saint Diamond desire for adventure @ millvosi.  This boy had a nice hand and good chest, he stood well with a good frame. His movement was excitable today and he needs time to settle.

Junior dog

1. Mr G Everton – Coldlea midnight sapphire. (RCC) A big upstanding dog for his age, beautiful head and nice dark eyes. He had a good reach of neck and a straight top line also moved well and in fabulous condition.

2. H Venable-Smith – Svanasjons extra special. Smaller in head, but with a good chest and a straight top line with nice bend of stifle, just prefer movement of first.

 Yearling dog

1. P Forrest & Lucas – Bernmont Sergeant @ Philandros. A lovely upstanding dog with good bone lovely head and nice dark eyes. He moved ok just needs more time to mature.

2. H Venable-Smith (see junior dog)

Post graduate dog

1. N Mokryk – Streillys Hugo The Boss (Dog cc & BIS). This dog took my eye on coming into the ring, he had good conformation a beautiful head with dark eyes and had a benevolent expression. Nice broad chest with a good top line which was kept whilst on the move, he moved around the ring with ease and was in cinque with his handler.

2. L James & A Doherty – Towerviewsaints Red Mist. Nice dog who has good bone and top line/shape. He had a nice head and dark eyes and he moved good.

3. D Deucharfawcett – Juts like phoenix Wielkopolsky Bernardyn @ Saranbeck. A lovely smooth dog with good head and nice eyes. He had a good topline but didn’t move quite as well as others today.

Limit dog

1. M Bell & R Jeffries – Kingdom on the Rock Wielkopolski Bernardyn for Belfries. A beautiful compact dog, in fantastic coat and condition. He had a lovely head and expression nice dark eyes, very good bone and moved well.

2. P Forrest & R Lucas – Bernmont allo allo @ philandros. Big upright dog, lovely head and good deep chest lovely profile. Today I preferred the movement of first.

3. J Pieters – Jantaralsani giants. A lovely dog who moved well but didn’t want me to go over him today.

Open dog

L Kimberley – Chedham boys are best. A lovely dog in good condition, nice head with dark eyes. He has a nice deep chest and good bone, topline and moved well.

P Forrest & G Marsh – Tombears Ready for anything @ Philandros. A taller dog than first with good topline again missing stature when stacked of first and didn’t move as well. A lovely head, dark eyes but a little loose.

Veteran dog

1. P Forrest & G Marsh – Champion Tombears who dares wins over Philandros. A beautiful 8 year old boy and still showing in excellent condition. Good head, nice dark eye with good bone he moved well and held his topline whilst moving.

Bitches

Minor puppy bitch

1. P & S Clarke – Parleshan Ebony rose. Beautiful puppy well put together, lovely head nice dark eyes. Has a good chest and well off for bone good profile when stood and moved well for a baby.

2. N Brennan & B Orielly – Streillys queen of the night. Another lovely puppy with a nice head, this pup had a good head and nice shape with good bone but didn’t quite move as well as first needing more time.

Puppy Bitch

1. Mr G Piciorus – Elise de Montmartre. Stood alone today but what a lovely girl, lovely profile when stood with a good head nice dark eye. She has good bone and keeps her top line on the move when settled and just needs more practise in the ring.

Junior Bitch

1. D Dewcher- Fawcett – Sarenback dare to dream. A lovely girl in great condition, nice head and good reach of neck with good well laid shoulders and bone. She had a lovely profile on moving which was well.

2. S Thorpe & D Meyrick – Coldlea midnight express. Another lovely girl she has a lot to like about her. It was a shame she was against first, she had a good head nice dark eye. She had good bone with profile when stood did quite move as well as first which is understandable on the day.

Post Graduate Bitch

1. S & Y Milward & N Beck – Saint Diamond U and me in paradise @ millvisi. (BCC) What a beautiful smooth girl, shown in tip top condition, lovely head dark eye. She had a good reach of neck and straight topline which was well kept on the move with a good profile when stood and moved very well.

2. RA Prior – Bernaliocious you go girl. Another lovely girl but smaller in stature than first but just as good In head with dark eyes. She is good in bone however movement not as steady as first im sure in time that will come.

3. C Alderson – Cyronelle Dixie Princess at Branbar. Nice girl with good dark eyes, smaller in head that others. She has a good reach of neck and topline but movement wasn’t as good today as top two.

Limit Bitch

1. S Oliver – Surleval Draig sisu. A beautiful bitch lovely in shape and progile with a good head nice dark eyes. She has a good neck and top line which she kept on movement and held well.

2. D & S Milburn – Dawstenbears out in style. A nice bitch with very clean lines, good top line and good condition who moved well. Eyes nice it’s a shame she came up against first im sure over time this will change.

3. K Friend – Saintlinbern beating heart. A lovely bitch with nice head and dark eyes, good shape but sadly carrying much weight which impacted on movement making her movement lethargic.

Open Bitch

1. R Holloway – Dawnstenbears rule the world. Bautiful bitch in lovely condition good head dark eyes and reach of neck. She had a good topline on the move and carried slightly too much weight, but this did not deter from her movement.

2. N Gooz – Vanessa von gerhagenwald. Another lovely bitch in good condition, good head with a very dark eye. Good toplin however a bit erratic on the move.

3. B O’Reilly – Ch Fantagira Wielkopolski bernadyn @ Strellys. Another bitch who was good, with a good head and dark eyes with good bone. She was slightly smaller than others in class but this did not deter her she moved well.

Special open smooth bitch

1. R Prior – Bernalicious u go girl (2nd post grad).

Veteran Bitch

1. A Lyons & E Grubb – Penelope Vant Hoff Ten Eynder @ Snowford hill. A grand old lady of 9 and a half years old. It was a pleasure to go over her, in great condition with a good head. She had a good topline which she kept on the move, she moved well but was showing her age.

2. P Muggleton – Bernmont Sabina. Another lovely old bitch at seven and half. Beautiful head dark eye lovely expression, not in the condition as first but moved ok for age.
